Comment:
I am putting an old P4 together. CPU reads at 1.3 GHz instead of 2.66 GHz. I have done some searching and found about the multiplier being wrong, but I can figure out how to change it. I have a jumperless mobo and can't find the right setting in the BIOS.
BIOS has FSB at 400 and RAM at 266. Should be 533 and 333. Option for 333 doesn't show up, just 266 and auto. I ran speed test and processor is truely running at 1.3 GHz.
Please help me with some suggestions on how to fix this. Mobo is Intel D845GEBV2. Thanks
The CPU multi is locked & cannot be changed. However, the multi for a P4 2.66GHz/533FSB CPU is 20x...I don't see how it could be running at 1.3GHz? If the CPU frequency was set to 100MHz (aka 400MHz FSB), it would run at 2.0GHz, not 1.3.
Set the RAM at 133MHz (aka DDR266) & the CPU freq at 133Hz (aka 533MHz FSB). That way the CPU & RAM will run in sync, that is, 1:1 ratio.
Unless you don't actually have a P4/2.66GHz CPU? Try using CPU-Z to confirm what you have & what the settings are:
Since your motherboard doesn't support 800MHz FSB, it can only run the CPU at 400MHz or 533MHz FSB, meaning that the speed would be either 13 x 100MHz (1.3GHz) or 13 x 133MHz (1.73GHz). There's no way you can run that CPU at 2.60GHz with that motherboard.
