This isn't the first thread about AMD XP processors doing this. I just built my computer from the ground up and I'm not having overheating problem, however my computer spontaniously shut's itself down and then restarts. And this happens at the very least ONCE A DAY!!! I have a ASUS A7N8X motherboard, AMD 1800+ (w/ original heatsink and fan) 450 watt PSU, 512 PC2700 DDR and 2 case fans. I have a heat and fan monitor which tells me my CPU idle temp is 50C and I believe this not to be a problem. Now I'm not a Bios Expert, but I believe the Root of this problem lies somewhere in there. maybe I have it set up wrong?? The Vcore setting, Mhz Setting?? Any Suggestions? Either that or it has to be my PSU or I have a Bad Ram chip. I've swaped everything thing else out. from the Video card to the CDROM to the Floppy, Motherboard.. Everything.. Only thing I haven't switched out is the PSU and my 512 PC2700 DDR. Any suggestions.?

Try loading default setup in bios or optimum & see what it does if that fix it well then it a setup in the bios if not good luck.

Thanks guys for your response.. And If anyones else has some more insight.. please feel free to add your input. In response to the first answer.. When the problems first started to occur, my computer was in Default Mode.. I have to admit I had changed some very basic peramiters.. but nothing serious. As far as the second answer, I am not overclocking at all.... I think however that the third response hit the nail right on the head!!! But what do you mean by Voltage going to the core. Are you talking about the VCORE setting under the Bios setup, because right now it is set up at 1.725. I was told it was suppose to be in the 1.5 - 1.625 range but my minimum DEfault setting is 1.70. I can not go any lower... Or where you talking about the PSU. I made a mistake when describing my puter in the first message. I really only have a 400 watt GENERIC PSU. I was reading up on recommended +12V settings for AMP XP processors with a lot of hardware and it said at a minimum Amps your PSU should put out is 15A (+12V) but recommened 20A (+12V). My PSU's +12V only puts out 11A. ANd with a A7N8X MoBo w/ 1800+ XP, Gforce 3 Ti 200 Vcard, sound card, modem, 2 Rom Drive, a Floppy, 80Gig HDD, and 2 Case Fans.. You Think it might be inadaquate Power Supply?
