I removed my heatsink and cpu today and did something wrong. After I reseated them and turned the power on the computer made a wierd sound. It was not a beep or beeps, but did sound like a failure warning. It then shutdown, this happened within three seconds of turning the power on. I believe that I did not get the heatsink seated properly. Now when I try to boot up I get no beep or anything on the monitor. Does the motherboard have a reset switch or did I fry something? The mobo is a Biostar M7NCD Pro and the processor is the Barton 2500.

Speaking from experience, I'm pretty sure you fried the mobo, does the little green lgith on your mobo light up? If not that means it's screwed. Because I didn't fasten my heatsink good when I was settin my comp up and it did that same thing, so I brought it to a computer shop, and they told me to send my mobo back and say that it came defective. Hope that helps

I'll look for the light when I get home this evening. I'll also order another mobo. Thanks.

I would way it's either your PSU or your Mobo. I would barow someones PSU. If that don't work replace your Mobo.

I sent the mobo and cpu back to Newegg. After close inspection of the cpu under a micro-glass I noticed a small whole on the L1 bridge. They may not replace the cpu but worth a try.
