Comment:

I have an Athlon XP 2600+ (Barton) cpu on an MSI K7N2 motherboard, and in the BIOS I can change the cpu multiplier from it's default 11.5..I'm assuming I have a multiplier unlocked cpu then? If so am I better off lowering the multi and increasing the FSB when OC'ing? I'm using PC3200.

Lowering the multiplier a couple of notches & ramping up on the FSB is indeed the way to go on a CPU with an unlocked multipler, that way you are squeezing the most boost out of your overclock.

You should also check the AGP & PCI bus on the motherboard & make sure you lock them at 66MHz & 33MHz respectively. You don't want to raise those frequencies alongside your FSB to avoid data corruption that could result from running those buses out of spec. And try as much as possible to run the CPU:RAM ratio at 1:1 for optimum performance.
