Before i start i want to say ive got little knowledge of oc
I've already been told that it probably wont help to oc this sytem but i was told on a rare occasion it does. and i want to learn a bit about so ill give it a shot.this is my system:
CPU:Intel celeron 2, 633Mhz (9.5 x 67)
Motherboard:MSI MS-6309 Lite (mS-6309LE v2.0 / MS-6309 v2.x
Motherboard Chipset: VIA VT82X694X Apollo Pro133A
128Mb SDRAM
Videocard: Nvidea Geforce2 GTS/ Geforce 2 pro(32 Mb)and i think i know that the multiplier is locked ( at 9,5 )
btw its multiplier X CPU host = system speed right?
also i was told that my mobo probably didnt support any higher CPU host than 75 but when i had a look in the bios i found this were my possibilities

79/39.50so if i understand it right my mobo is one of that rare occasions and can go up to 133 cpu host? and none of the pci clock go beyond 37.50 (wich i was told not to pass)so i dont have to worry about that?
and so if i want to oc it i can just start from the lowest CPU clock and go higher untill my system becomes unstable?
or am i talking nonsense wich is well possible because i just started reading about it yesterday:P

You have to be realistic about your expectations. Your CPU is designed to run at 633MHz (9.5 x 66.66MHz), probably at 1.65v. The multi is locked at 9.5x so all you have to play with is the FSB. As a side note, the PCI bus is designed to run at 33.33MHz, but most devices that use the PCI bus can tolerate up to 37.5MHz...beyond that speed, you run the risk of problems (sound not working or distorted, video problems, data corruption, bad burns with the CDRW drive, etc).
Increasing the FSB to 133MHz would double the speed of you CPU to 1266MHz. In other words, a 100% increase...that's NOT realistic!
All you really need to do is a little math & use some common sense, maybe do some googling. Like I said in your other thread...I read reports of other people hitting 950MHz (9.5 x 100), but it's not a sure thing. Look at the numbers you posted above...75MHz is your 1st step. 79MHz is out...the PCI bus is too high. You can try 83MHz, but there is a bit of a trade off there because the PCI speed drops. 95MHz would be the next step...the PCI drop is insignificant. The final step woulld be 100MHz. Your system might become unstable along the way...if it does, either it's time to stop & back off, or riase the CPU voltage to try to stabilize. The problem with the higher voltage is that it also creates heat. If the system becomes unbootable, that means you've gone too far...at that point, you have to reset the BIOS (clear CMOS) & start from scratch.
But once again, I have to comment on your RAM. 128MB simply isn't enough to do much of anything well. Increasing the RAM amount to 256MB, 384MB, or 512MB will have a HUGE impact on performance...moreso that any overclocking you manage to do.

thanks for all your help jam:D i really appreciate it.It's now at 750Mhz any higher and it reboots when starting XP. I know its not really worth the effort and just should buy some extra ram, but im just exploring oc ing a bit so i can maybe use it on my better system(not that thats a good one lol). still ive got a question what happens if pci clock gets lower? what kind of effect does it have on my system?
btw im going to raise the voltage a bit my temperatures are now at:
Mobo 25 Celsius 77 F
Cpu 27 Celsius 81 F
with the sides off
so a slight raise wont be really dangerous would it?

If you're at 750MHz, that would mean the FSB is at 79MHz & PCI bus is at 39.5Mhz?
Just so you know, you're taking a big risk by doing this. IDE devices (HDD & optical) use the PCI bus, as do onboard devices such as sound & video, not to mention PCI cards. And AGP video is designed to run at 66MHz (PCI x 2)...so if you have an AGP slot, it's now running at 79MHz (39.5MHz x 2), which is WAY outta spec. You're flirting with disaster!
Adding another 0.10v to the vcore should be OK...just keep an eye on your temps. Increased temp isn't the only issue though, "electromigration" can also occur

Let say your default vcore is 1.65v, by adding 10% from that give you 1.65 + 0.165 = 1.815v ~ 1.8v... I would first try 100x9.5 = 950Mhz @ 1.8v to see if it boots, if not then go with 95x9.5 all the way down to 83x9.5.. However, if you are running at 95Mhz or 83Mhz FSB, your PCI/AGP device will run little bit slower than before since they are not at default of 33/66Mhz...
