I have a computer that starts up nice until 30 seconds later it's at 121 C and freezes, what can i do to cool it down? I've applied thermal compund and the stock fan worked for my last 3 comps.
I can guarantee you that your CPU is not 121C (250F)...it's impossible! It would shutdown WAY before getting that hot. I'm not saying it's not overheating, but your temp reading is obviously incorrect. Did you get that reading from the BIOS or thru software? If it's from software, what program are you using?
Either you used the wrong HSF for your quad (as was suggested by DVB), you installed it incorrectly, or you applied the paste incorrectly.
Here's the proper way to apply paste to an Intel quad-core CPU:
Naw im working on a new computer for my mom using an ECS PT890T-A mobo with an intel P4 650 (3.4 GHZ) with a gig of RAM from PQI DDR2 533.
And yea I saw the reading through the BIOS cant install any programs obviously it gets too hot within 1 min btw new record today 124C before it froze(btw it doesn't shut off because the default settings for the Automatic shut down when the CPU is too hot was disabled). I took it out of the mobo from the case coz the company said grounding might be the problem for freezing but nope, Mobo was so hot from the other side I burnt myself a lil bit, can't burn yourself with a CPU running at 70C right?
