i have this wierd problem with my friend computer (he hardly uses it)...when i turn on the computer it starts up but nothing shows up on the monitor...no beeps...power seems fine (hardrives were making normal noise, light on the case fan was on...but the cpu fan stops spinning after like 5 seconds when i press the power button (tried a new fan and did the same thing)...so i took the heatsink and fan off while the computer was running and the cpu wasnt getting hot or nothing (i don't know if this means it is dead or not)...oh yea, there was some corrosion on top of the transitors next to the cpu...fans on the power supply work...im really stumped guys and i need ur help...ask me questions if u need too...we gotta get this thing up and running

Seems like you may have found your problem. Did you try getting any of the corrosion off and then trying it?

I bet the motherboard is dead
can you see any capacitors with corrosion on top ? if so, then the capacitors are dead... reason ? fan broke, heatsink got hot, and the capacitors burst. I know you said transistor... when the PC doesn't show anything, it means pretty much that the motherboard is DEAD.
