Alright, now I've searched through these forums and havn't found anything dealing with my issue. My problem is that my fan isn't running at its optimum speed (of 5500rpm). But it runs good through the BIOS load, but it goes on to boot the OS and it craps down and idles at 1700-1750rpm, no matter what, and hovers between 49-50 idling, and 53-55 under a light load (havn't gone for anything heavier load yet).
I know that it shouldn't overheat to the point of failure, but I don't really wanna screw something up and I'm not what you'd call an expert at this.
I'm currently custom building a gaming system using the same CPU/Fan/heatsink as I'm using now, and it was after a test period of the new system that when I put it back in this comp it started screwing up.
Also - Between BIOS and OS-boot there is a black screen with an underscore (_) flashing, like a dos prompt sort of thing. It hangs there for about 1-2 seconds, then goes on to booting; its in this time frame that my CPU fan 'fails'.

S*** if I know, but it looks like the fan is failing. :(
What kinda chip you have in there, a Doritto?

do u have any temp monitoring software? Somtimes this will activate smart fan wich only brigs the fan up to speed when a certain temp is reached
