Problem is: cursor and keyboard started freezing up a couple weeks ago, only solution was to turn it off and back on sometimes several times. now it won't s connect to anything "cpu failed" message came up last time and system shut down. sounds like fans or a motor is running but will not do anything--does this mean its fried???

It's very difficult to fry a modern CPU do to built-in thermal protection features. However, it may be overheating & shutting down to protect itself. When's the last time you opened the case & blew the dust out of it?

Can of Dust Off or similar at computer or office supply store.

You have to be a little bit crazy to keep you from going insane.
