Subject: CPU Diode Temp?
OS: XP Home
CPU/Ram: Celeron D 2933 / 512
Model/Manufacturer: HP
Comment:

Intel Celeron D (Prescott) 2.93Ghz
MSI MS-6577 Motherboard

Temps as reported by MBM5 under full load:

Winbond 1 2N3904 (62C)
Winbond 1 Diode (85C)
Winbond 2 (41C)

I'm guessing that it is the first and third sensors I should be watching? Those are the temps that Everest reports for the CPU and case, and those are also the two sensors that appear to control my system fans. I assume the difference in CPU readings is because one is the internal diode and the other is the socket temp.

I have had no crashes and the CPU is not throttling, so is the diode temp even anything to be concerned with?

Thanks in advance for any info,

Dig

The BIOS temps match these:

Winbond 1 2N3904 (CPU)
Winbond 2 (System)

To be honest, I don't really know what the Winbond 1 Diode sensor is even supposed to be monitoring. I hadn't heard of it until I installed MBM5. It does fluctuate with the CPU and System temps though. I've seen it anywhere from 69C (idle) to 85C (full load).
