The stock Intel cooler is a little noisy but works pretty good as a cooler. I imagine that's what you have installed now.

Here are a few choices...

I'd check for good airflow thru the case before spending money for an aftermarket cooler. Cool air should enter at the lower front area of the case and exit at the top rear area. A crapload of fans is not necessary; the psu fan and another mounted just under the psu is enough. No side fans (they disrupt airflow) are necessary.

Another item to remember is that Prescott core P4's run hot. Period. Hotter than anything before or since...

so a prescott p4 chip would be normal running around 60-70degrees then..??

at the moment its at 52 but fluctuates reather alot between 48-64 deg C

i have the case open on the side..!!! i would thought that would help cool it down to be honest
