Hello all, Could someone please tell me if a Intel pentium E5200 Dual core is compatible with Intel D102GGC2 motherboard. The Intel site is not very helpfull as the last update for my mobo was in Dec 2006. Also, Which is best, Pentium 4 or Pentium D. Thank you for your help and time, Gilesie17.

Since the CPU support list has P4's, Pentium D's & Celeron D's only, I would have to guess that the E5200 is NOT supported:

Not a very good board anyway.

Jam is right. You will need to buy another motherboard to support it.

A motherboard like this for example will support it. If you are on a budget this is a pretty good deal for 48 dollars.

Yeah it's a pretty good deal for the price and will support even quad cores. The only draw back if there really is one is that it only supports 2 ram slots instead of the standard 4 ram slots but the good news is that it can support up to 8gb of ram, which would be in this case 2 pairs of 4gb of ram instead of 4 pairs of 2gb of ram. No big deal you prob don't need nearly that much ram anyhow. 4gb of ram would prob be plenty for you and you can get 2 pairs of 2gb of DDR2 800 ram cheap.
