hey..i turned on my computer and it shut it self off and i smelt something burn. i dont think its the power supply because the motherboard still has power. i think it is the processor, but wen i try to remove the heatsink...i lift up the two lever things and try to remove the heatsink, but the heatsink wont come off. is something wrong with it or am i just not doing the right thing to get the heatsink off? help plz..

What CPU do you have? If it's a P4, it's very unlikely that you burned it out. It's probably the PSU
ASUS A7N8X-X
Athlon XP 1800+
8.5 x 200MHz
1024MB PC3200 2.5-3-3-7
Asus A9550GE/TD 128MB
WinME/WinXP Pro SP1

try to remove your hardware such as hard drive cdrom and network card or others 1 by 1 to try check where is the problem coming from. cause maybe is not the cpu burned.
MSI KT3 Ultra 2MS-6380E
Athlon XP 1800+
12x133MHz
DDR512 PC2700 2-2-2-6
Asus ATi Radeon 9200SE 128MB
Windows XP SP2

LOL it wont come off huh. Are there screws attached to the bottom of your heatsink?
that could be a possiblity if you have something like a Pentium 4 or Athlon64
If it's a retail PC like Sony or HP they may have used thermal adhesive instead of normal thermal paste.
Try removing your motherboard from the case, and use a crowbar.
no joke. epoxy glue is strong stuff.I've burned plenty of things. just take it to a cheap repair shop, they will tell you what's wrong.
or do what gkwong said..
aXP2k+
WD80GB 2mb cache
Ti 4200 4x/64ddr

Lite-On CD-rw
Lite-On DVD
Audigy LS
Logitech MX518=best mouse ever
