cpu burned out.. how?

my processor is 1.7/256/400/1.75v and my mother board is tpm p4 and RAM is RIMM type RAM . one day there is one probelm there is no display boot at all/ so i open the pc and i check my SMPS but its fine then i short two pins(not compact)that time there is high heat on the wire i felt bad small. then i check my processor, centre of the cpu in balack colour,meant burned out, how its possible hoe cpu burned? what are the reasons fpr this?,,,,,

Are you sure the CPU is burned out? It's very difficult to burn out a P4. It has built-in thermal protection circuitry which will *usually* shutdown the system long before it get's hot enough to fry.
