I have been having problems with explorer.exe running at 100% whenever I try accessing my external WD 500GB Essential drive. Everything works great otherwise.

I saw this post http://www.computing.net/answers/cp...
but, it's been closed and I didn't see a solution.

I have been suspecting it might have to do with the software that came with the drive as I hadn't loaded it right away and I think it was working fine when I first got it. Then, I installed some of the software that came on the drive and think that's when my problems started. I've uninstalled the software, but still see things in the registry for it.

And, the drive works fine on my desktop computer where I never installed the software.

Any ideas welcome. This is driving me crazy.
