I think the component list and the reputation of each one speak for themselves Ben !!!

Will you get new ram for this or will you use the current pc2700 you have ??

I would sugest a couple of sticks of ddr 400 Corsair twin x perhaps.

One small point which I am sure you know already is use a darn good power supply for this setup, and a good case.

If you are using 2 drives or more split the drives up and leave one bay free between them to help with cooling.

A very good choice indeed.

Enjoy

Regards

maybe a dual channel kit of pc4000 memory for room to overclock and increased performance, as you overclock-keep the memory at the same speed

Abit AS8 LGA775 2.8 @ 3.36
2 x 512 Geil Ultra Platinum PC4000 @ DDR480
128 meg Radeon 9800 Pro

Pretty close to my new setup. but why are you buying an SLI motherboard? Unless you going to buy another GFX card later then scrap that, and even if you were, ATI cards aren't yet compatible with SLI!!! Surely there is a board with comparable performace without SLI for a cheaper price?

My motherboard is a K8NSNXP-939 and its a corker i love it (but its only AGP, so if you want PCI-E i think there is a similar board with that)

Gigabyte K8NSNXP-939
Athlon 64 3500+
Dual -
Corsair TwinX CMX512-3200XL
Gecube X800 XT Platinum
Seagate 200 Gig
Coolermaster Wavemaster Silver

One of the things about ggbt is that ther mother boards dont carry a specific ram type usage.

Their board to the best of my knowledge will work with any type or make, as long as it is within their specification.

Your chioce of cooler is good, I have the 2004 GT ultra series on my cpu and I do admit it is most impressive to say the least.

Excelent cooling, looks good, and very quiet.

I dont know what case you have but as far as my personal oppinion is concerend I would be lookign at a good quality aluminium case, with a side and rear exauhst fans, and add a fron intake as well, this will aid in cooling the drives and add extra air flow through the case.

Hope that helps.

Can anyone answer the question of whether the PC2700 memory really needs upgrading?

It's another expense and no-one has explained if it's necessary. The AMD site states the winnie will work with 333mhz memory.

If it does need upgrading, why?
