read the post entitled:
Asus A7N8X not POSTing
further down on this page, I had to post a new topic on how to fix my mobo if my bios is corrupt. (What kinds of tricks are there?)

Kevin,
I would guess preparation and common sense.
Make sure you do the research to properly flash your bios.
Download the new bios file twice to try to insure nothing went to hell during the download.
Prepare the bios flash twice.
Back up your old bios twice.
Flash it.
Hope it works. So far, so good with all my flashes.

If all else fails, you can hot-swap your bios with another one.
Basically use another system that supports the size of your bios (1mb or 2mb).
It doesnt have to be the same board though.
Make sure you set BIOS shadowing or BIOS cachingis set to enabled in the CMOS setup.
Start the system into DOS, start your flash program, load in your new pattern, and when asked 'Are you sure you want to program y/n?', pop the BIOS chip out of its socket (carefully) and put in your old BIOS. Press y and go.
Its sounds like a risky operation but despite what alot say, it not!
Its very easy and after you have done it a good few times you wont even think about it anymore.
On the easier side, if you know someone with a multi-programmer. Get them to do it LoL
:-)
