I'm thinking of purchaseing a new pc from Ibuypower.com I get to the CPU part I pick Intel Core 2 Duo Processor E6750 (2x 2.66GHz/4MB L2 Cache/1333FSB) first then notice the Intel Core 2 Quad Processor Q6600 (4x 2.4GHz/8MB L2 Cache/1066FSB) for and extra $86.00 My question is which one of these cpus would work better with a 600 watt powersupply, 2gb of Ram and lastly a Nvidia 8800 GTS 320 mb videocard. It all depends for what purpose you need your system for and it all depends if you willing to spend the $86.00+ tax extra money.

Both processors would work fine with the other parts in your system. However, I'd choose the q6600. If you're a gamer, you'll see the 4 cores of the q6600 really help out in upcoming games such as Crysis.

The q6600 also overclocks like a a madman. If you're into that kinda stuff, reaching 3.2GHz is pretty much guaranteed.

Yeah your right its worth the extra money, but after I posted that question I went on tech spot to check out the reviews on the q6660 it was highly more profiectent multimedia tasks but the duo was just as good at gaming. The review said the games out right now dont take the full advantage of the quad but with new games coming out like Crysis it'll defiantly help alot. Thanks for the advice oracle and jackbomb

when you want to buy a processor you always want to look forward to the future you by the quad the performance wise it is going to be a little better, core 2 duo is pretty much todays tech. and the quad is comming along, being much affordable and also with less power. I would prefer 4 cores rather than two any day.
