Core 2 Duo slowdown - need help

Subject: Core 2 Duo slowdown - need help
OS: Win XP Home SP2
CPU/Ram: Core 2 Duo E6400 - 2GB DD
Model/Manufacturer: Mainboard is ASRock 775Du
Comment:
A couple of weeks ago I purchased an ASRock 775Dual-VSTA motherboard and a Core 2 Duo CPU.

I did not have the money to build a new rig, so I kept my old components, DDR RAM, 2x 200GB hard drives [1 PATA, 1 SATA], video card [ATI X800 XL AGP], 500 watt Seasonic power supply.

After I got the board and CPU installed I ran some benchmarks. Non-overclocked CPU score was 1075 using 3DMark03.

I overclocked it a little but the motherboard did not seem to like overclocking so I set the FSB back to 266MHz.

A couple of days ago I noticed Microsoft Flight Simulator was chugging, badly. I re-ran the 3DMark03 benchmark again and this time my CPU score was 188.

This is not good. Any ideas what the problem might be? Possibly a component on the motherboard?

Thank you in advance for your help.

Dan
