Everybody says Core 2 should run under 1:1 ratio with ram frequency for best performance.

I would like to know why.

Do you guys know why?

Testing has shown that 1:1 ratio is what gives best performance. Here's a discussion in another overclocking forum about it:

Thanks jam, I can see quite clearer now after reading your linked thread.

As far as my English language low level lets me understand well, the benefit of having 1:1 ratio doesn't seem to be specific to Core 2, does it?

No it doesn't but that is as far as Intel goes, on AMD's (A64) side, this is not a fundamental requirement because of the A64s integrated memory controller.
