Subject: cooling CPU's
OS: win2000
CPU/Ram: 1Ghz/384MB
Comment:

Now that CPU's have reached 3Ghz must mean that they are getting hotter. I have read that CPU fans used today will be replaced with water cooled heat sinks. Are these water cooling systems avalibale or are they not going to go on sale.

They say that they will be quite, cool most parts of the system (CPU,HDD etc) and are more effective than fans.

you can buy a watercooling system setup now. Look for them online though since they are priced a little higher than the fan cooling pc's. Your local store usually dont carry them unless you ask for one to be built. As for the p4 going to be hotter?...Its possible since the 3ghz is suppose to be a little different than the other p4's. Its suppose to give the illusion that there are 2 cpu's installed in the pc making multitasking more efficient and faster. A few companies have tested the 3ghz against the 2800+ and the p4 did a good job although the 2800+ was right on its tail.

Water-cooled systems are already on the market, and have been for some time. They supposedly are more quiet, and more effective. The only problem is, you must be REALLY careful when you have water pumping through a box full of electronics. They also make transporting your system from place to place a big hassle (if your in to LAN gaming).

You can build your own liquid cooled system, or purchase a full case with most parts integrated.

To each his own. There is never a need to have water cooling running a PC no matter how high they go. 1.2, 3.06, 9.45

Not necessary, water cooling kits make sense to people who are overclocking anything and everything. Of course people will say water cooling is a must but it is not unless you are doing what is listed above.

Use fans or get a case that allows for better use of air circulation etc and all will be fine.

Peace

Next thing you know they will be using car radiators to cool these things. Just crazy!

watercooling has its benefits. No dust build up. No noise. CPU seems to last longer in a watercool computer. Mainly to do with the much lower temp. And the only big fault about watercooling is if you spring a leak more than likely your system is fried.
