Hey all, I'm just wondering about the auto-overclock function of Coolbits 2.0. I have a GeForce 6800 card and recently downloaded Coolbits. I'm not terribly knowledgeable about overclocking, although I'd like to be in the future, but until then,is the auto o/c effective and more importantly safe?
When you overclock the video card, you can use the auto option and then try to run games or 3DMark0x to varify whether you have artifacts on the screen. Artifacts can be defined as weird colors, dark or light blanking spots or any abnormal texture on the screen like the water is black. If you use the atuo and it does not have any artifacts, then it is safel, otherwise lower down the core and the memory by 5Mhz until there is no artifacts on the screen.

I have the same card on this system and have it set @ 400/900, I use PowerStrip in conjuction with Coolbits because for some reason Coolbits will not accept the overclock without testing it and needless to say decline it after the test.
As hinted above, if you notice anomalies like artifacts or freezes, you should back down on the overclock.
