Reply: (edit)For starters i'll wait until what tomshardware website has to say. Any title that says "Intel's Conroe spanks AMD FX-62's botty" Sounds unprofessional and makes which can reflect on their article as well. If these are "true" numbers in which i'm still in question of then Conroe core is a great core but it's not by all means a core that that will change the face of processing as we know it. In fact considering the big hype about this core, other then a few benchmarks it scored over the amd fx 62, it wasn't that impressive like people said it was going to be. AMD Athlon 64 X2 4400+ OC 2.7ghz 2GB Dual Channel DDR 3200 Nvidia 7800GT SATA II 2x 200gig 7200rpm 16mb cache RAID-0 Gigabyte Nforce 4 SLI

Reply: (edit)Wow when amd is threatened the sarcasm gets thick. The conroe spanked amd`s best and it was running at a much lower clock speed. I would say Amd has woke up the sleeping giant.

Reply: (edit)"Conroe core is a great core but it's not by all means a core that that will change the face of processing as we know it."...Huh ??? I don't know why folks think it's inconceivable for Intel to come up with a processor that outperforms what AMD has to offer. Much like nVIDIA and ATI, there is a tenure and we'll definitely see things sway back and forth as some of us expects. Agree AMD may have held on to the performance title for too long but that does not imply perpetuity. I could care less who is the leader and don't have a loyalty to either one of them. Give me a CPU that performs efficiently and priced competitively and you've got my attention and probably my buck too. They are both fighting for our wallets and I couldn't be any happier with the rivalry.

Reply: (edit)I'm not defending just AMD need I mind you that I have an Intel pentium D 930 pc as well. I'll say the same to AMD if they overhyped a product. I don't see where Intels Conroe Core spanked the FX 62 as in blown it away, it might have beaten it but it didn't spank it. Well by the looks fo it this chip doesn't seem like it's going to be consumer friendly at first. I wouldn't be shocked if it didnt' start out around 800 dollars. If it beats an FX 62 then that kind of gives you a hint that this core isn't going to be anywhere near a 200-300 procie range. Unless Intel comes out with a waterdown version of the Conroe core.
