Hi,

I used to have a Celeron 1.7Ghz that I replaced with a P4 2.8Ghz. I checked and made sure that my mainboard supports the chip. Installed it and the heatsink and everything worked fine for about half an hour. Then my computer shut down. Now it won't start up again. The fans and HDDs won't spin but I know that there's power getting through b/c it'll light up. I can't be sure if the heatsink fan turned on because I closed the case up. I did plug it in correctly though and I'm pretty sure that it worked because when I turn the power on, I get a little twitch of movement from the fans. Anyways, any bit of help would be appreciated.

The power supply would be a good place to start.

"I can't be sure if the heatsink fan turned on because I closed the case up"......you need to open up the case and check your PSU.

Power up the PC and check the status of the PSU fan, does it spin and keep spinning?

Reseat the processor and try again.
