My computer suddenly quit starting. The on/off button turns green when pushed, but nothing starts up. It actually started once since, but quit working again as soon as I turned it off. I checked for loose connections. I was looking for things I could try before taking it into a repair shop. Thanks for you help.

There could be a number of things !!!!

But I would suspect eather your mother board is gone south or your power supply.....

But before taking it to the shop check to make sure that all the wires and cables on the fromn of the case are connected to the mother board.....

In other words just chcek is the conections are firmly in place...

IF IT AINT BROKE, DONT FIX IT
