hi
Yesterday i turn my computer on and at boot it asked me witch OS i want to boot from (strange cause it had never asked me that and i only have one OS ) anyways today when i got back from school i tryed turning on the computer and reallized that the screen would'nt go on and that i got 2 beeps instead of one ....the power supply seems ok cause all the lights and fans and HDD go on
machine specs:
asus p4p800-e deluxe (ami bios)
intel p4 3.0 ghz
pc3200 400mhz 1024megs
HDD 1 80gig (partition 20/60)
HDD 2 80gig (data drive)

2 beeps means an error has occurred in the first 64mb of ram. Ram is probably bad. Experiment with the ram and see if you can isolate which stick (if you have more than one).

Thanks for your help
I did have 2 x 512mb of ram and found the corrupted one
now i would like to know what should i do with the corrupted memory stick
should i change it / send it back or can it be fixed or other ...
thanks again your help is really appreciated

certain memory manufacturers have lifetime warranties. You can try seeing if they'll replace it for you.
You can run on one stick for now until you get the new memory.

Yea, most RAM manufacturer's offer a lifetime warranty. To cash in on it, it's just a matter of going to their website & doing what you have to do to inform them of your problem (fill out online form, send an e-mail, call an 800 number, etc)...they'll supply you with an RMA number, then you just ship them the defective RAM & they'll ship out a replacement.
