I have 2 computers which reboot by themselves 2 to 5 times every day. One has Athlon 1400 (retail), ECS K7S5A and 256MB DDR. The other one has Athlon 1800XP (OEM), MSI K7T266 Pro2-A, Volcano 7 & 256MB DDR. I am pretty much sure that it is not an overheating problem as my MSI PCalert utility shows CPU temperature was around 43C right before rebooting. Can anyone tell me how to fix them? Thanks!

Mine do that too, I run two Windows 98 computers, they do that when their ram fill up, or you might have a virus.

I am using Windows XP Professional. My other computers are working fine (similar configuration as those 2 with problems).

the MSI K7T266 Pro2-A motherboard is known to only work around one year (i have had 2 and they was replaced by warranty)
after one year they starts hang or just as you say shutdown the computer
they say that it is a few of the "metal cylinders" that are around the CPU that dryes out (dont know if i spelled right but anyway you get the point)

Windows XP tends to randomly reboot if you don't do something special. I assume you can figure out how to get into the system properties. Press the Window Key and Pause/Break if you don't know how. Go to the advanced tab then choose settings for startup and recovery. Under system failure, uncheck automatically restart. Now it should auto-reboot no more in Win XP.

Thanks! Froggx. I'll give it a try to see if I can eliminate the problem.

Thanks! Froggx. My computers have been working perfectly for more than a week since I unchecked "automatically restart".
