Hey ya'll..I could use some help! I've had my CPU for about 2 months now. Ever since I got it, temperatures have been really high (Mm, I'm speaking of 73°C here) and my computer keeps shutting down on it's own. Could someone recomend a good cooler for the Amd Athlon XP 2000+? And I might need a better power supply ?? ( my power supply is 230W)
I'd be happy if someone could help me :-)

Well as far as the heatsink i have been using and slk800 and seems really good you will need a fan with it, the fans i am using is loud, and i am using a 450 watts power supply, i am sure you will get a lot of help here.

The slk800 is a great, great heatsink and that should cool things down a great deal. You might also think about getting some more case fans because even with the stock AMD cooling things should not get that hot.
For a power supply I would recommend the 350 watt Enermax model, as it is cheap and very reliable and big companies like Voodoo Pc have used them in their machines for a while. Antec and Vantec also make great high quality power supplies.
Good Luck

Hey..well let me see...your computer is obviously restarting, alll becasue of your CPU overheating..if your CPU Is hitting the 70's in celcius thats really bad...you shouldnt even turn on your computer for you risk frying your CPU...i dont really think its or power supply..even though its a lil low...if i were you i would change the heatsink and fan on the CPU because obviously it isnt efffective...also you can cool your CPU by adding a few fans on your case...i mean...your CPU fan cools the air in in your case...cool the air in your case with a case fan or 2 your CPU fan is cooling nice cold air...therefore keepin your CPU cool...so yea all ru problem is is hot hot hot soo u need to counter that...Take care..and keep your CPU temp below 65c...have fun...and if your cpu is overclocked tone it down a few fsb's...

If I may ask, what is the curret status of your case cooling? Meaning, how many fans do you have in your system, what size, and where?
Look into Zalman heatsinks for quieter cooling at impressive temps, but if noise is no option, go for an slk-800 and a very very very powerful fan, which thermalright recommends. Delta and Vantec Tornado are the extremes.

I find it so amusing, as soon as a female delivers a post, all these guys come scuttling to their aid, yet they never bother to relpy with a thanks or any kind of gratitude or even acknowledgement. HILARIOUS!!!!
