My computer began freezing up at random times. Two possible related things have also happened that may be causing this. My windows has stopped updating because it says my copy is possibly counterfeit, and the circuit breaker in that room of the house keeps tripping as well. Would either of these cause this issue? The freeze is complete and requires power down to fix. Ctrl/Alt/Delete does nothing.
The counterfeit copy has nothing to do with anything (other than updates). If the copy is truly counterfeit, a little creative googling will show you the way to "make your copy of XP 100% Genuine" ;-)
The fact that the circuit breaker keeps tripping in not good...not good for your PC, not good in general. It means that particular circuit is overloaded. A PC & monitor really don't take up a huge amount of amperage, but if it's sharing a circuit with an AC unit, microwave, refrigerator, or some other power hungry appliance, it may be enough to push it over the edge. Find out what else is on that circuit & make the necessary change(s)...even if you have to run an extension cord from another room which is on a different circuit.
