CPU/Ram: celeron 1.7 128

hey im wondering. what is the celeron 1.7 compareable to? p2/p3 etc. i keep hearing that its the worst cpu to get. is it that bad? also, what would you guys do? get a new mobo and overclock a celeron 1.7 to 2.13 or buy athlon xp?

Get an Athlon XP. Its got more cache than the Celeron. 384k vs. 128k.

the newer celerons are much better than the old ones. i believe anything after 1.1gigs was a good performer, but like Dave said above, go with an AMD :)

also, try to read some legit articles on the web by reputable people. as a start take a look at www.tomshardware.com specifically http://www6.tomshardware.com/cpu/02q3/020903/index.html

Smelerons are good all round performers.

They are cheap.

But now we are in the days of Athlon XP so Celeron is kinda redundant (it's one good reason for existance, price, has been taken by AMD).
