Hello,

I have an old Compaq Presario 5BW130 that i want to upgrade. I have already upgraded its RAM from 64mb to its maximum of 512mb and now i would like to upgrade the CPU. The only problem is that i have no idea what processors are compatible with this pc.

I would also like to say that I understand that this pc is very old and that it would be a lot easier to just buy a newer and more modern one but i already have two newer pcs. I am just upgrading this one for the fun of it.

Here are the current system specs:

Motherboard: 191767-003 COMPAQ
PRESARIO 5BW130 SYSTEM BOARD
CPU: Intel Celeron processor 667 MHz
System Bus: 66 MHz system bus
Cache :128KB L2 Pipeline Burst Cache
System Memory: 512 MB PC100 SDRAM
Hard Drive Capacity : 15 GB
Hard Drive Interface: DMA/ATA-66 (Ultra)

Here is the link to a pic of the motherboard in case you for some reason need it:

I really need to know the maximum CPU that this motherboard can handle.

Any help is highly appreciated.
Thanks In Advance!

What you have is a socket 370 motherboard. The fastest that board will take is most likely the 1Ghz socket 370 Celeron if that. You will just have to purchase one off of eBay and find out(they are like $5.00+ shipping) It looks just like the HP mini-tower micro ATX 370 i810 motherboards, and if it's the same ASUS design than it probably can't run the Pentium III CPU's, or at least on the HP versions, they will not post if a pentium III cpu is installed. And I can't remember if the boards support the FPGA celerons either(from 667mhz to 1ghz)

All I can say is look for a 1ghz or 933, 966mhz celeron CPU on eBay and try it out.

512mb RAM
50gb SCSI
ATi 9200 PCI
