Comment:

I have recently build myself a comp which works fine except it keeps freezing when playing games and I have to reset.

Also, when the game freezes, the sounds repeats itself really quickly.

I hvae all the lates drivers etc but my Athlon 1900+ CPU is running at a temp of between 55-65C...

your are in the range temp, but try to buy a new cooling fan, thermaltec, globalwin and decrease the temp between 45-55C.

I don’t think your temp is causing this.

Are there any IRQ conflicts between your display adapter and sound card? Do they share any interrupts in PCI/IRQ steering?

How big is your PSU?

Your CPU temp is acceptable. Crashing is NOT temp related...look elsewhere for cause of your prob

Badboy....

There are no IRQ conflicts between display adapter and sound card. Dont think they share any interrupts in PCI/IRQ steering.

PSU is 350w

what are the specs of your power supply? 350 watts is meaningless nowadays. what means everything now is the combined wattage of the 3.3 and 5 volt lines. don't just add the max wattage they can provide. you'll never be able to pull that much power without killing it.

I have to disagree with some points from people saying that it is not a heat issue.

I have the same exact problem as the original poster. I have xp2100, giga 7vrxpa,
512 DDR pc2700. Boot up temp for CC is 55C. No problems at all until i start a game. After approx 1 hr, the game will crash and
do the repeating sound thing alot (remember a scratch on the LP sound, well this is the same except much faster). Now when I open the case up and have it on the top of the desk, I have NO PROBLEMS whatsoever. But if i close the case, OR put it in the hutch enclosure of my desk (even with the case open), problems left and right. After I reset i notice that the cpu temp is around 62C.
Before i forget, I have an Antec Plus true power 350W ps. This looks like it is totally heat related - any other opinions?

Those are acceptable temp range for the cpu. But it does sound like a heat problem. But not the cpu on the motherboard. Might be your video card. Remember during gameplay todays video cards are working over time with trying to render 3d graphics. Focus on getting that case cooler. If its only freezing up during gameplay then more than likely its the video card thats over heating.
