The difference between a amr and a cnr slot is that the amr slot supports audio/modem. The cnr slot supports audio/modem/network. They are both propertary slots, meaning the manufacturer of the motherboard eathier provides or sells the card to use with the mobo, that will work only with that companys line of products. Though there are a few(very few) independent companys that make a generic amr\cnr card that will work with your mobo. From what i read, the cnr is not bacwards compatible with a amr slot.
