Dude, you're not getting it...maybe I should have worded my reply differently:

Laptops aren't designed to be overclocked.

The CPU doesn't run at full speed unless the load requires it. When you're reading this page, your 1.4GHz CPU might be running at something like 600MHz, maybe less. It's deliberately designed to underclock itself to conserve battery power & keep the CPU temp down. It will clock up again when you need it.

You're not gonna see a difference between 1.4GHz & 1.5GHz anyway. Even so, 1.568GHz @ 112MHz FSB is the safe max before everything else goes too far out of spec.

ok I understand the downclock thingie but just a quick question, say I overclock to 1.6ghz, if an applecation or somthing needs it would it not use 1.5ghz if nessisary for better performance in demanding programs

The guy's got a Celeron. Celerons don't support SpeedStep, so it will be running full-bore all the time. However, that doesn't change the fact that it's not a good idea to overclock a laptop, given the compromises they must make for proper cooling and power management.

Do yourself a favour and leave it alone. Set your clocks back to spec and uninstall clockgen.

I wish my lawn was emo so it would cut itself.
