Here is gonna be my new setup when I build it up today:
ECS K7S5A-2 Mobo
Athlon XP 1700+
256 MB PC133 Ram
20GB HD
Volcano 6... heatsink, copper shim, silver arctic thermal paste
TNT 2 Vanta LT AGP
Voodoo2 12MB PCI
Altec Lansing Speakers + Sub
2 case fans, 1 ps fan

Do you guys think this would be too much for a 300watt ATX power supply?

Not thrilled about your graphics card choices...both are outdated...why the 2 cards anyway? What about sound? Onboard?

The Nvidia chipset (although Vanta is horrible) s better than the Voodoo, why daisychain it? It is a waste? For $30 you could easily get a GF2 MX (although I hate MX cards it would be better than what you ahve listed). Maybe you should save for a couple more weeks and get a better setup...Just a thought as I thik you are going to be disappointed IF you are a gamer or tweaker...

addendum - the Arctic Silver is a COMPLETE waste of money, it is NO better than standard silicone thermal compound from radio shack that cost all of $1.00...The Arctic Silver was how much?

Hi'ya, Mike and Jam,

I agree all the way.
And yes, for around $40 bucks, you could get a pretty decent video card. Just recently, I saw 64 MB SiS315 cards somewhere, but don't remember exactly where that was - for under $40 bucks. Got some awhile back and noticed an immediate speed improvement with everything on the screen. Don't know about most games though - but my Ascension Graphics looked better and faster than ever before too.

Hey Intel, AMD rulez!

Anyone think it is time for a classifieds section on this forum? I got stuff sitting here I am sure someone else could use, and it would be far less hassle than EBAY!

As for graphics cards, sell your two cards mate. I am looking at 64 meg DDR Geforce4 MX420 for $60. (www.pricewatch.com)

XxxFrancisxxxUSA - dont buy that card man, it is junk ! The 64MB GF4 (MX) is nothing more than a oc'd GF2....

That would explain the price tag. I have asked around and no one really seems to have a definitive answer. Seems to have the brains of a Geforce4 with all the speed of the geforce 2 then?

Ok, then what about the Geforce2 Ti 64 meg ddr? That is roughly the same price.

Hi XxxFrancisxxxUSA,

I agree with mike about the GeForce4 MX...it's nothing more than a hopped up GeForce2 & it has been reported as such at many different hardware review websites. In bench tests, the GF2 TI & the GF4 MX are closely matched...but the GeForce3 is actually more technologically advanced than the GF4 MX.

This should help with your decision:
