hi i got a emachine ET1161-07. unable to find info on the motherboard. my processor is a AMD Athlon Dual core 4050e (2.1GHz) i wanna change it with a AMD Athlon Dual core X2 6000+(3.1GHz) processor. my question is can i change it ? and if not with that one do you of one that i can?

eMachines are notorious for having weak power supplies so keep that in mind. The 6000+/3.1GHz is rated at 89W, the 4050e is only rated at 45W. A CPU upgrade won't make up for poor graphics so if gaming performance is what you're after, invest in a video card instead.

Your board is *probably* an ECS MCP61PM-GM. The same board is used by several OEM's. According to the specs listed at Gateway, the board supports "processors under 89 watt power consumption" so I would say the 6000+/3.1GHz should be avoided.
