Subject: Change cpu speed settingOS: Windows 98 SECPU/Ram: 500 Mhz / 128 MB |
Comment: Can someone please help me on how to change the CPU speed on my Windows 98. I used to have a CPU speed of 500 Mhz as it displayed everytime I rebooted my PC. Now it shows 333Mhz only. I have tried changing the CPU speed setting in the BIOS. However, PG UP / PG DOWN + or - does not modify anything. PLEASE HELP Regards, Rajiv.

Reply: (edit)Your CPU is supposed to run at 5 x 100MHz (500MHz)...it is now running at 5 x 66MHz (333MHz). I don't know how it got changed...either the battery is weak like YO suggested & the BIOS reset itself to default settings, or you somehow did it yourself. Without knowing what make/model your motherboard is, I can't tell you how to reset it other than to tell you to look in the BIOS.
