Comment:

Hi all,

Just putting together a box for my kids. It's a Chaintech 7KJD, XP1700 CPU, FSB @133/266, 256DDR PC2100 (for now).

Upon first boot after XP install, I get this warning in Sandra:

Vcore too high! &
Mainboard temp too high?

Everything is at default on the board- WTF?

Can someone here tell me the proper setting for the Vcore for this setup? I looked all around AMD's site but went bleary reading & never finding.

Also, my Vcore is adjustable in BIOS- but how do I know what it's at now & what is best?

Not overclocking- just want it to run,

Mom

Your vcore should be 1.5v, 1.6v, 1.65v, or 1.75v depending on which model of 1700+ you have. If you just bought it, it is probably 1.5v, but might also by 1.6v. 1.65v and 1.75v are for older models.

Sandra is shareware's answer to Consulting Companies, proving its worth through large mounds of advice 90% of which is needless and just makes you worry. If everything is at default, chances are you are fine. But check your temps - 45C or less for mainboard and 55C or less for cpu. And don't be surprised if both are 10C below that.
