Hi. What is the "max speed" for chaintech p4m266 8235 motherboard.

I'm interested of Overclocking my processor (intel celeron 2000MHz). Astra32 says that CPU frequency range is 1.6MHz-2.8MHz. So should it be safe to overclock the processor up to 2.8MHz?

Astra32 isn't telling you that's what your CPU is capable of, it's telling you the range of S478 / 400MHz FSB Celerons that were available.

Did you ever overclock before? Your CPU's multiplier is locked at 20x so the only way to increase the CPU speed is to increase the FSB. Your board's BIOS has to support the necessary settings, you need to have the right RAM & you need to know what you're doing. If you simply jack up the CPU from 2.0GHz (20 x 100) to 2.8GHz (20 x 140) without changing any of the other settings, your system will most likely become unbootable.

Here's your motherboard manual:

And just for a laugh, here's how much your CPU is worth:

Thank you for the answer.

No, i havent done that before. Just got this idea, after playing with astra32, but i didnt want to mess my computer, so i came here for help.

But after sweep from google, and what u said, the overclocking seems to be complicated thing to do. So for me the best option is to buy a new processor.

And that last link really gave me the laughs, (maybe it is time to upgrade) hahahaa. Thanks.

when (or if?) you do upgrade, don't get another celeron processor. they may be cheap, but they have bad performance.

Ok, seems that my motherboard can't run higher processor than 2GHz. So it is time to upgrade the whole system. Any ideas for what would be a valuable and good system? I don“t require the newest ultimate parts, only it should run HQ-movies, Adobe CS4, gta iv, windows vista, and in the future windows 7 without any problems (impossible?). Intel or AMD? I really dont know the difference of them.
