Subject: Celeron vs. Duron |
Comment: Iv'e noticed that Durons are lower priced than Celerons, but are Durons really faster? And do Celerons support DDR ram? I know Duron does. Witch is better?

Reply: (edit) I would chose a duron if I could only chose one.Celerons run at 66mhz front bus speed, durons at 100mhz.That alone can make a duron run faster. They are cheaper. They are more durable.(I have put all of mine through hell and have yet to have one fail).Celerons can be a little more stable as I have hered of some peeps having trouble with amd's crashing for no reason( look throught these very forums) I have never had that trouble.Durons are easyer to hack as they can be unlocked. So its realy up to opinion.Just like wether a ford is better than a chevy.(I perfer chevys)

Reply: (edit)there is no debate. the duron is so much better than a celeron. i have a friend that runng his 1.3 duron at 1.6 [12*135] with the STOCK HEATSINK. thats 300+mhz with no extra colling than retail heatsink. also, its better to get a duron because it provides excellent speed, plus you can save money and by something else. intel is a joke in the processor race. and durons are perfectly stable.

If I buy a new mobo which one can I buy that can offer me service for a loong time?(just like the tx pro did.. I used 6x86L them MII and finally k6-2) I now have three different processors and 1 mobo that I dont want to throw away. If I want to rack them where do I start?

Reply: (edit)there's no socket 7 based celeron. AMD K6-2 550 is the maximum for a socket 7. Get a Chaintech Socket A board which supports Durons and Athlons. For information on Chaintech products, visit www.chaintech.com.tw it is one of the coolest running boards (CPUs run cooler)
