Comment:
i am planning to buy a new laptop and i am comparing two laptops with only a different CPU. One has a Celeron D and the other one has a Mobile Pentium 4 with the same core speed 2.8 GHZ
Which one is better? i am not into heavy graphing and stuff, i do play a few games, but mostly work.
Celeron D would suit you perfectly only if you don't play "fancy schmancy" graphics games. Considering mobility and money, Celeron uses a bit less electricity(I think) than Pentium and is much cheaper.
However, I do suggest pentium4 if you're not under budget constarints. If you're not planning to get a new laptop for more than 6-8 years, go for pentium. for If it's a family laptop, and kids are going on and installing stuff, pentium4 is a good idea.
I have a celeronA 466MHz and it works fine and fast w/ Win98SE, email, MSword, Internet+msn, firewall, Ad-aware, and AVG light stuff such as a few games - Starcraft, Warcraft, triplane turmoil, Wolfenstein.
hope this helps :)
There are two types of people in this world: lazy people and stupid people.
Mobile P4 with 2,8GHz? Are the new ones already on the market?
The actual ones I know run around 1,7GHz but I read just a few days ago that the next genaration will go up to abaout 2,8GHz. But I understood that they wouldn't be on the market already!
But even a P4 1,7GHz should be faster than the Celeron if it comes to games, video editing and so on!
Pentium M is not a Pentium 4-M or 3-M. The P4 line (including Mobile variants) is coming to end of life. The Pentium M line, more closely related to the P3 than recent P4's, is likely the new candidate for its replacement. For now P-M's are in notebooks, but their performance is certainly desktop worthy.
Hello, everyone. I'd like to ask something about two CPUs. Mobile P4 2.8Ghz and the other one is Mobile Athlon XP 2800+. I'd like to buy some laptop and there are two opportunity in front of me:
ASUS CPU: Mobile Athlon XP 2800+ 512K GPU: Mobility Radeon 9600 PRO 64MB RAM: 512MB
What do you think of TOSHIBA (Intel) and ASUS (AMD) and which's better? And if I buy TOSHIBA, is there any chance to change this Radeon 7000 with some Radeon 9600.
Every Town Has Its Secrets. Some Are Just Darker Than Others
Intel has done us all a great disservice by using confusing product naming. Please refer to this link again and notice that the Pentium-M and Mobile Pentium are two different processors but many people think they are same - not so.
