Comment:

I just bought a new Shuttle PC and an AMD XP2600+

I know these two are supposed to work together but I can't get the CPU to run at the right speed. When starting up the machine says it's running at 12500Mhz and windows says it's 1.24Ghz.

I went into the BIOS and it is set at 100 FSB. I tried putting it up to 133 and 166 but the machine pops up a quick warning message and then shuts down and next time I turn it on it forces me to change the CPU settings back. Tried flashing with newest BIOS, tried all the latest drivers etc.

What am I doing wrong?

Thanks.

P.S. The motherboard is jumperless if this helps.

Sounds like you need some registered or higher quality memory. This system response is very much a sign of incompatability with your settings. The CPU can do it, the Mobo can do it, but you're memory can not.
