I'm trying to get this old server working again. It's a dual CPU 486-66 system, with two CPUs installed, 64MB of RAM, and a pair of 4.0 gig SCSI drives.
I installed Win NT 4.0 on it, but the second CPU isn't being recognized. It is enabled in the BIOS, and I did follow all of MS's dual CPU installation instructions.

Weird thing is that the diagnostics only identifies one processor--so the problem isn't at the Windows level. Again, the second CPU is enabled in the BIOS. Any tips? Thanks.

You probably want motherboard info. :)
The motherboard's made by V-Tec. Don't know the model number, as I'm at work right now. I'll look at it later.

Oh, hey, never mind!
I just got it to work by plugging in a different DX2-66. It's now running in SMP mode flawlessly. I guess that other chip was damaged.

Yay!
Damn, you have some cool old hardware! I want your super P3!

If you don't mind me asking, what are your plans for this old server? Gonna stick in a X1300 PCI and play Crysis on it or something? heh.

"Gonna stick in a X1300 PCI and play Crysis on it or something?"

How'd you guess? :P

Nah, actually I'm not, but ONLY because it doesn't have PCI slots. :)

I'm not really sure what to do with it. I just had to take it home with me though, when I saw it in the alley behind work. I didn't even know that dual 486 boards existed till now.

Guess I could see how it does as a torrent leech. I don't really have anything else for it to do, since I've already got a 1.13GHz server that stores files, shares a printer, and acts as an Internet gateway and hardware firewall.
