Comment:

I just picked up a 2500+ 512L2 and have the fsb up too 440. I benchmarked on Sandra and beat the 3200+ hands down but the p4 beat me in almost all the tests. My vcore is still set at 1.65 and its running at 46-52c I have pc2100 thats running at 360 4 2 2 2...... nehope to beat the p4 3.2 gig my only thought is to get some dual c ddr400 and raise the vcore and fsb

P4 benifits from Dual Channel DDR memory bandwidth and HT. AMD chips only have half of the memory bandwidth, so it's not surprising to see AMD is lagging behind a little. But for performance/price ratio, AMD chips are still the best choices.

The AMD64 can match the P4 HT 800 memory bandwidth. A P4 2.4C / 2.6C at $170 would have a better performance/price ratio.

We do have the choice for those who have, and those who have not.

Here are some chips AMD is planning to make:

ClawHammer 940-pin – 1MB L2 cache, dual-channel memory controller, made at 0.13 micron SOI nodes.

ClawHammer 939-pin – 1MB L2 cache, dual-channel memory controller, Cool’n’Quiet technology, made at 0.13 micron SOI nodes.

Newcastle 939-pin – 512KB L2 cache, dual-channel memory controller, Cool’n’Quiet technology, made at 0.13 micron SOI nodes.

Winchester 939-pin – 512KB L2 cache, dual-channel memory controller, Cool’n’Quiet technology, made at 90nm SOI nodes.

San Diego 939-pin – 1MB L2 cache, dual-channel memory controller, Cool’n’Quiet technology, made at 90nm SOI nodes.

Note they all have dual channel memory controller, looks like AMD is catching up, starting with those current 64bit chips.
