Subject: Cannot install any PCI Cards
Comment:

I just got a new machine in with a PCChips M700 motherboard. Everything works fine until I try to install a PCI card. I have tried 4 different NIC cards and one video card. The video card gets no signal on bootup. Windows said that 3 of the 4 NIC cards where not working properly, saying "Device could not start". The 4th said it was working properly, but it could not ping out, nor could I ping to it from anoother machine. Anyone have any ideas of why this would happen other than a faulty motherboard?

All the cards work. I tested them in another machine. This leads me to beleive the PCI bus on the motherboard is faulty.

No offense, but PCChips isn't a very reputable company/manufacturer of motherboards. They produce more quantity then quality. Most likely its either a setting in bios or the pci bus is out of spec.

I presume the MB has integrated video, Sound etc.
It is quite possible that the MB doesn't allow access to certain PCI slots when certain onboard devices are enabled.

CHECK YOUR MB MANUAL
