I have this old Compaq Presario 5000 , that i was wondering if anyone knows of a way I can over clock it.
The Bios has NO options of any use , no muiltplyer , freq , or voltage settings that I can change.
all I really know is its a Compaq Presario 5000. I am going to check out google and look into it more , but at my first quick attemt before I put up this post I couldn't find much. Also I phyiscal looked at the MB and there isn't any jumpers that I could easyl see , then again I don't really know what to look for. I always do this kind of stuff from the bois.
Thanks

Software would be the only way, but one begs the question, why would you bother?
I love my Amiga 500!!!!

I have to echo the above response. Overclocking software is the only route but what would be the point? The learning experience?

Could you give me a name of some software that can do that... and
This computer is pretty much only used for checking E-mail , Facebook and basic Online stuff like that. It work great for that (can hardly tell a differance between that and my 3ghz computer), there is very little installed on the system and it has 512mb of ram. Just though I look into running it a little faster. I sometimes use it to play mp3s off from my rather large collection and it seams to run just a little to slow. Its part of a larger network.THanks for the info

Hello
for the software you are looking for,
check sites like majorgeeks.com and others i
could list later, I have faster computers and
slower ones and unless your are a gamer, you really are not going to see a big difference
in 3ghz or 1ghz for surfing the web, making
mp3's listening to music. i find the biggest
difference is the heat and noise the p-4
2.8ghz makes. if you overclock your computer,
watch your temps. and be careful. I still use
my 1ghz compter too at times it gets the job done.win98 & xp
computers.
