Spent alot time reading this forum today.Very informative.I have a Abit KG7 mb with Athlon XP 1700+,512 micron pc2100 ddr ram.Geforce 2 ti 64 mb ddr vid card.IBM deskstar 60 gb hd.I made my first foray into overclocking by increasing the fsb to 140.I also installed Vcool 1.7.It reports my idle cpu right now at 24 celsius.I have a Thermocooler hsf (stock). My cover is off and have two case fans blowing on hsf chipset and vid card.I just played Unreal tournament for a half hr and the temps maxed out at 39 celsius. From what I'm reading 39 degrees is a good idle temp, but I'm getting that stressing it alittle. And it's oc'ed to 1.540 mhz.Can this be possible? I've checked temp in via hardware monitor, sisoft, and vcool all say about the same low temps. My cpu fan is at about 4800 rpm.It seemed to get alittle faster from case fans blowing on it.The heatsink is installed with the thermal sticker thing that came with it.Any ideas?
Great forum you have here, will be back often.Learned alot about OC'ing here
Thanks Mike

Mike, I don’t know if you’re complaining or bragging.

Those temps sound great for a CPU that ISN’T overclocked.

Badboy I'm not complaining nor bragging.I was just curious why the temps are so low.Everyone elses temps seem to be around the same.So I thought something could be off or wrong. Thanks for the reply. If I can keep these temps this low I might give the unlocking the multiplier thing a try.
Thanks Mike

If those temps are accurate, I’d say you’re the man!

oh plese, dont get over excited....having the cover off will give just about anybody those temps. you might want to think about putting the cover back on before you have more problems by keeping it off.Magnetic field,Dust,ESD and objects falling in to just name a few.
