Can old 2500 hit 3200 with PC2700?

I have a year and a half old XP2500 barton and 512MB PC2700 Corsair Low Latency memory with timings of 2-3-2-5 1T. I also have a A7N8x and Antec 420W psu. Right now I have the 2500 overclocked to an XP2800 just by changing the multi to 12.5. Is it possible to get 11X200 (xp3200) with my type of memory? Do I have to change the vcore on my cpu or memory, or change timings on memory? Also is it better to overclock with memory in dual channel or single channel mode?

You are probably one of the lucky few that got the unlocked 2500+ while it was not in high demand.

You can try 11*200 (3200+), but your PC2700 is not guaranteed to run @ 400Mhz and more that likely it'll not do it. One thing you can do as a workaround is change the CPU/RAM ratio (6:5), so that the memory runs @ a lesser clock that the CPU.

With the Athlon XP's forget dual channel, it is far from reality. You can stay with the (6:5) CPU/RAM ratio or get some PC3200 memory if you want to run the CPU and RAM synchronously.

So do you think I can get 11X190 without hurting the memory or cpu or changing the CPU/RAM ratio. And by the way my Vcore is still at stock 1.65V, should I increase that as well? Right now my temps are 38-44C.

Hurting the memory chip is not my point, your system not booting or becoming unstable @ certain clock is what I'm trying to get across.

With the CPU/RAM ratio @ 6:6, reduce your multiplier to 10X or 10.5X, and start cranking up your FSB gradually till you start having stability issues, that will show you how far you can go.

When you know that point then start increasing your multiplier. I don't think you should need to increase the Vcore unless you want to go beyond 400FSB and you can't do that with the PC2700.

So if I increase my RAM voltage to 2.7v and increase vcore to 1.7v, then do you think I could get 11X200? Will this harm any of my components? (cpu temp 38-46c right now)

you know, i have an xp2000 clocked at 12.5x133(normal) and im getting 48-57 temperatures... Im pretty sure that if it goes over 50 degrees, it will NOT harm your processor, you must have a pretty good fan

Athlon XP 2000+
256mb DDRx2 (2100/2700)
80GB western digital
geforce4 Ti4200 w/64mb
audigy LS

Or you can do what I did and change jumper to 14x and run it super stable, until you can afford the faster pc3200 ram.
