Subject: Can I use C2D's or Quad Core w/MOBOOS: XPCPU/Ram: Pent D 3.0Ghz(830)/3.0GigModel/Manufacturer: Dell XPS 600 |
Comment: My Mobo is an Nvidia nForce4 SLI X16 LGA775 1066/800 FSB DDR 2 667MHZ. The Nvidia Documentation says it can handle "Core 2 Family" processors. Which one's can it handle? C2D's or Quad Cores? Can I use any Socket 775 processor that is 1066 FSB? Is there a resource on the Web that shows CPU's compatible with my MOBO?? Is it worth the upgrade?? Thanks!!

Reply: (edit)Not going to happen. You are stuck with the Pentium D currently on your Dell machine's motherboard. Next time you might want to build the system if you have upgrades in mind.

Reply: (edit)Core 2 Duo on an Nforce 4? Don't believe thats gonna happen. Whats wrong with a Pentium D? The last of the pentium D's can keep up with the entry level Core 2's and sometimes have better floating point performance.
