Hi i want to upgrade my motherboard and processor so i brought a 2GHZ intel celeron bundle and brought it home and relised i have a AMD Duron so can i swap the motherboards and processor over to a intel celeron?

HP's are proprietary PC's and very often the use non-standard hardware. If you are sure that the motherboard you have bought will fit into the case and line up with the holes/apertures and compatable with the Power Supply and Memory then yes.
Though your XP CD is probably a Restore CD and is probably tied to the HP hardware and may not function correctly, as XP will have to create a new profile which may neccisitate Re-Authorisation, which obviously it may not be able to do, as you have changed the hardware, substantially.
My choice would of been to buy a new non-branded PC, and sold the HP!

If this is an HP, it's possible that a standard motherboard won't fit in the case. It's also possible that the power supply won't work. Then there's the possiblity that the RAM's not compatible. Even if those things aren't an issue, your current installation of WinXP won't work. You'd either have to do a "repair install", or the HDD will have to be reformatted & XP completely reinstalled from scratch. And if this is an HP, the HP software will be useless with your new combo...it's made specifically to work with your HP board, so you'd need a *real* WinXP CD.

While the above would not have mattered one bit, since you planned on upgrading both CPU & MOBO. Your not knowing this before hand makes me want to suggest, you pass on this upgrade altogether or have someone else more capable handle it for you.....no offence.
